Young Los Arcos Disciples

As we’re nearing the end of the year it’s great to be able to look back and see all that God has done within and through our team, and in particular, to establish a new ministry team in Los Arcos. And as the ministry here and the teams continue to change, it’s especially encouraging to see certain disciples remain faithful month after month.

Jacob has been discipling two boys for the 8 months he’s lived in Los Arcos, Greatday and Sangay (both about 12 years old). Despite their age, their intentionality and value for the Kingdom has been surprisingly consistent, and God continues to grow them as leaders. In addition to discipling certain key leaders, they lead a boys group every Friday (with only a bit of help from Jacob :)

Sangay (the 1st picture), a Nepali refugee, has been helping Alexis (Hispanic) to disciple Sujan (Nepali), who’s discipling Sandip (Nepali). In the past couple months Alexis has been unfaithful in discipleship, so Sangay has begun to work directly with Sujan.

Jacob was also discipling Sangay’s dad, Man, for a couple months (he was on the prayer blog a month ago). However, Man has been much busier with work as Christmas approaches, so discipleship has gone much slower. Man hopes to start looking for a disciple as soon as work slows down again.

Greatday (the 2nd picture), a Karen refugee, has been discipling both Mi Reh (Karenni) and Rekish (Nepali). Rekish, in turn, recently started discipling Dipesh (Nepali), and Mi Reh has been looking for a disciple.

Through the leading of the Spirit, Greatday and Sangay are leading many around them closer to Christ on a daily basis. Please lift them up in prayer as they continue to seek after Him. In particular, they could use prayer (1) that their disciples would see God’s vision in a deeper, more practical way and become more committed to the mission in general. (2) Pray that Greatday and Sangay would develop a deeper, more intimate relationship with Christ over the coming weeks. And finally, (3) pray that God would grow a burden in their hearts for their own people, as we believe they could be key in seeing movements launched in the Nepali and Karen people groups. Thanks!

The Dillers

A little over two weeks ago, Zach and Hannah Diller, along with their one year old daughter Hadassah, joined the Ranchester team. After a short visit to Houston in July, they felt the call to join the team. They left their home, family, and friends in Indiana and haven't looked back since! They've already met many of their neighbors, invited children into their home, visited homes, and even shared the gospel with people!

Please pray specifically for the Dillers that they'll continue to lean on Christ during this big transition and be effective in their apartment complex in sharing the gospel!

McGathy's on Mission

Chris and Julia joined the Salem Oaks team in August. Since then they have hit ground running, and God has blessed them with tons of different connections. Here is an overview of the work Julia and Chris are currently involved in:

  • Julia has been pouring into four girls ever since the couple arrived: Smirti, Sang Huang, Sang Muang, and Beh Meh. They are Christians but all four of them just made the decision recently to go deeper in their walk with Christ and follow him at a greater cost.
  • An African woman named Phaza, the mother of Taher's disciple, Olivia, asked Julia to be discipled. That will happen through translation of Olivia. Please pray for the husband, Mkunzi. He is currently in jail for abusing the family. Pray against alcohol abuse in his life. Chris hopes to connect with him when he gets out.
  • Chris has been connecting with people weekday mornings at the bus stop. There have been at least two people that Bibles were given to. He said they both held them tightly after they were given, one was actually snatched from his hands!
  • Nemal is a Nepali man who is traditional Hindu. He only believes in one God. Chris was able to give him a Nepali Bible and he has been reading it comparing it to his religion.
  • Chris met Ah Htoo a month ago before he left for the SD training. He's not Christian but Chris got to pray for him to find a job. During that month God provided a job for this man! Chris Block, a new Ranchester team member got to share with him, and at the end of their time the man initiated asking for prayer for his mother.
  • Together they have been able to connect and build relationship with their neighbor, Marlon, and his family. They are Hispanic and they will be having dinner with them on Wednesday night.
  • They also connected with a deaf Nepali couple, Dahn and Mani. They are Christian but they do not follow. Mormons have been coming to them giving them resources and info on the book of Mormon. Chris was able to show them truth and trade out the Mormon's book for the Bible.
